Besides being a refuge and school for writers, The Workshop will function as a venue for events such as readings, music and theatre performances, movie screenings, game nights, dinner parties etc. We will also keep you abreast of literary events elsewhere in the area and around the country, so check back regularly for updated schedules.
REGULAR EVENTS
An Evening With...: The monthly series will feature a published writer who will read from selected work and then take audience questions. This will be a great opportunity for fledgling authors to be inspired and influenced by as well as pick the brain of an established talent.
The Seacoast Writers' Circle: A group of writers will meet twice a month to discuss their ongoing projects and engage in various writing prompts. The purpose of SWC is to keep writers writing, in adherence to the bi-weekly schedule, and to give a forum for feedback. Moderated by Donna Kirk.
Bookworms: A book club dedicated to important, classic books. The group will assemble every two weeks and will be expected to meet chapter or page quotas in order to have involved discussions about the book as it is read through. Moderated by Evan Coffey.
Poddle: Once a month, The Workshop will host Poddle, a game of word invention. The game is played by one person going to the markerboard to craft an absurd word and give its part of speech based loosely and perhaps humorously on conventional etymology. Then another person will conjure its definition, and another person will use it in sentence. The invention round is over when all players have played each of the three roles involved. After there is a hearty list of ludicrous words, there will be a 20 minute free write where the players will use all the words in some kind of sketch or narrative. Pieces can and will be shared. Laughter is sure to arise. Moderated by Ryan Crossan.

If you are interested in booking a performance of any kind feel free to contact me at rkc234@gmail.com. We are looking for readings, music, small cast plays, puppet shows, comedy--anything relative to the intellectual ambits of literature. Send us a bio and proposal and hopefully we can work with you in the future!
